Cultivated varieties of yellow, purple and white and the Red Columbine (Aquilegia formosa) known for its bright red flowers. Perennial flower with a deep taproot able to sustain drought conditions when fully established into the ground. Perfers moist soils and partial shade however can tolerate drier soils and full sun once established. The species will hybridize together, keep separate to preserve native species from cultivated ones.
